Dear, sweet Cadbury -- a chocolate lab (probably a mix) lived up to her sugary name! My nephew, Eric, and I picked up this chocolate treat yesterday in Center Valley. Cadbury proved to be a dog who is a good egg about everything, and who lives to just be loved.
Cadbury, at about 50 pounds, was brought in as a stray in Marietta, Ohio. Because she's so friendly and eager to please, she was selected to be transported alone, via individual drivers to PA.

Can't we just rest? |
She arrived pretty tuckered out. Eric took the leash while I collected the paperwork (vet records) that always accompanies the transported dogs. Cadbury took to Eric right away (of course, who wouldn't?), but she wasn't all that interested in taking a walk in the heat of the day. She'd already been walked by Steve, who brought her to Center Valley, so traipsing on after that just wasn't on her menu of treats. So she and Eric hung out together, like two bars of Milky Ways.
Cadbury made the final decision and literally dragged Eric over to the grassy area, in the shade, where she plopped down to take a breather. She drank a lot of water, but still her tongue hung out.

Taking a break |
We were just glad we had a plan for her! I can't candy-coat this story. Earlier in the day, there had been some confusion about two potential adopters, and we all unknowingly were trying to communicate with the wrong person! By 2:00, I was starting to think we just might be bringing Cadbury to my house for an overnight. But things finally got straightened out, the right adopter was contacted, and we made our final arrangements on where she'd pick up her new bundle of chocolate joy.

Home at last. |
So, we were off with Cadbury to take her to Shannon, her new mommy. Cadbury rode well in the car, but happily disembarked when we arrived at our destination. And speaking of disembarking, we never heard a sound from her. No barking or whining. Only lots of doggie kisses before we started out.
And here Cadbury is meeting Shannon! You can see Cadbury is very affectionate. She'd press right into you, which truly makes her so lovable. There is nothing more rewarding in any of this than handing over a dog to its new furever parent. Knowing their entire life is about to change makes me happier than eating M & Ms. These special transport dogs melt my heart, not my hand! Soon, Cadbury will be playing fetch, getting great meals and spreading her love all over the place. Lucky Shannon.
