SUZY Q's VIEWS 10/13 - 10/19

Stop thinking, dude!  It's way overrated!

I count my blessings every day.  One…my favorite toy;
two…my ability to torment my cat siblings; three…a clean litter box;
four…my favorite toy; five…all the toys hidden under the couch;
six…all the toys hidden under the bed;
seven…all the leaves that skitter along in the breeze;
eight…my favorite toy; nine…my favorite spot on the bed;
ten…okay, let’s face it – it’s my favorite toy!

Why eat out of your own bowl,
when you can eat out of someone else’s?

Cats are so much smarter than dogs.
We train our people;
dogs are trained by their people.

Shortie Goes Home!

Remember Shortie?  He was one of the Molly's dogs who participated in the dog training class in late July in which my nephew, Eric, and I participated.

Shortie had a longer road to adoption -- and not because of his short legs.  Animal Care Sanctuary in East Smithfield, PA, agreed to take Shortie in, which was a much freer environment than living at Molly's Country Kennels.

Here Shortie is enjoying a walk at the sanctuary, which had to feel great.

Big smiles by Shortie
A close-up of Shortie smiling -- and look at all the room for him to romp!

And then the next thing he knew, he met his new guardians who fell in love with him.  Shortie got adopted!  Here he is enjoying the love and attention from his new family.  And again, more smiles.  Congratulations, Shortie!

Gloria is Having the Time of Her Life

Just look at this face!
Gloria was another dog involved in the training class Eric and I attended in July.  She is also the opening cover photo on my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/underdograilroadstories

Gloria accompanied Shortie to Animal Care Sanctuary.  Kennels are a great temporary solution to care for rescue dogs, but far better to be at a sanctuary where running and playing are part of the agenda.  And Gloria is doing just that with her new best friend, Brady, at their Wellsboro location.

Brady (L) and Gloria (R)
Gloria and Brady wrestle, play tug and chase each other through green grass and rolling hills at the sanctuary.  Because Gloria is a high energy dog, she needs a lot of exercise to be happy. Brady is one of the sanctuary handler's dogs who gets along with everyone, and is about the same age as Gloria.  Brady too loves to romp around in the yards, so they decided to pair them up to see how they did, and they fell in love.

I'm stronger!  No, I'm stronger!
They are the perfect match with the same amount of energy and spunk so they can tire each other out. Not only do they love playing tug and running around together, but they both love the water. The sanctuary has big tubs of water in each yard for the dogs to drink out of and swim in, and they both manage to get in the tubs and play together! Just watching them play makes everyone smile because you can truly see how happy they both are.

Bet you can't catch me!
It would be great for Gloria to go to a home where she has a doggie playmate, but a person who loves to play tug, wrestle and run with her would be just as great.  You can see sweet Gloria at their Wellsboro location.  Check her out at: http://acswellsboro.wordpress.com/adoptable-dogs/

SUZY Q's VIEWS -- 10/5 - 10/12/14

Ha ha ha ha ha!
I hope you enjoy my first clerihew.  What's a clerihew, you might ask? Mommy says it's a whimsical, four-line biographical poem invented by Edmund Clerihew Bentley. The first line is the name of the poem's subject, usually a famous person put in an absurd light. The rhyme scheme is AABB, and the rhymes are often forced. The line length and meter are irregular. Bentley invented the clerihew in school and then popularized it in books in the early 1900’s.

So here goes:

Garfield the Cat
You may say pudgy, but I say he's fat
In one day he probably eats dinner after dinner
One thing's for sure - in his own mind, he thinks he’s a winner.

I've learned that everything in life is a constant education.

Ignoring people is an art. Cat art.

And speaking of that cubicle with the water spraying from above, I just LOVE to bat at the water droplets as they cascade down the glass door. It's so much fun. But I never, ever catch them...
